Are you ready to get your hands on the newest Pokémon Trading Card Game cards before they officially hit the shelves? Pokémon Prerelease events are the absolute best way to experience a brand-new expansion. They are casual, incredibly fun, and open to players of all skill levels—whether you’re a seasoned Pokémon Master or just starting your journey.

If you're gearing up for our upcoming event, we've put together a quick, friendly guide on exactly what to expect and how to play!

Step 1: Grab Your Build & Battle Box

When you arrive at the event, you won’t need to bring a pre-made deck from home. Everyone starts on a completely level playing field! Every player receives 1 Build & Battle Box.

Inside, you’ll find:

• A 40-card ready-to-play deck (including a specially stamped promo card) to give you a solid foundation.

• 4 booster packs from the brand-new expansion to upgrade and customise your deck.

⏱ Step 2: The Deck-Building Sprint

Once everyone has their boxes, the clock starts! You will have about 20 to 30 minutes to open your packs and modify your deck.

Here are the golden rules for Prerelease deck building:

• Your final deck must be exactly 40 cards (unlike the standard 60-card tournament decks).

• Don't worry about bringing your own Energy cards—we will provide plenty of Basic Energy for everyone to use to ensure your deck runs perfectly!

Step 3: Fast & Fun Matches

Once the decks are built, it’s time to battle! Prerelease tournaments are designed to be fast-paced and casual.

Instead of the usual long, best-of-three matches, you’ll play single-game matches. Because the decks are smaller, games are played with 4 Prize cards rather than the usual 6. This means the action is quick, chaotic, and full of surprises as everyone figures out how the new cards work together!

 Step 4: Everyone Wins Prizes!

The best part of a Pokémon Prerelease? You don't have to win every match to walk away with awesome loot.

As long as you stick around and complete the tournament, you will receive 3 additional booster packs as a participation prize at the conclusion of the event! It's our way of saying thank you for being a part of our amazing community.
